Personal project, trying to offer an alternative to main stream games in a world plagued with anxiety and stress.

It is genuinely very relaxing, hopefully it will help some folk chill and de-stress

Unity was and is an absolute dream to work with!

Very daunting going live, all support is very much appreciated.

That looks beautiful! very nice environmental work you did there. It certainly does look very relaxing.

awesome!

Awesome work!

Really nice idea. Great job.

Looks great! One thing, though, is I saw your website and there was no Mac version apparent. It would be pretty easy to export a Mac version, no?

Thanks rab236, I do have a Mac build just wasn’t sure what demand there would be for one so I decided to leave it off for now. I think by you suggesting this so early on that was probably the wrong decision

I will add a mac build next week and update this post when its up.

Also have a windows build that uses a gamepad, this might appeal to some folk that prefer to play from a distance and chill out that way. Will add that option as well next week for anyone interested.

Thanks for all the input and comments

Wonderful scenery. We all need to stop and relax.

Looks truly amazing!

Nice mood!

Nice initiative, too.

At 0.99$ you’re not charging enough in this context or charging too much. I’d either take a free version or won’t bother to open my paypal for transactions below 4.99$. Anything below for a completed project is still “I have to do a transaction” in my mind and on a PC just doesn’t reflect as something of much value (therefore worth paying for). Don’t devalue your nice work!

Stunning use of terrain

Good point and something I thought about long and hard. I will tell you my reasoning behind the decision.

Originally I had intended to include 5 environments + a tutorial level, with a planned price of $4.99. Due to other commitments and increasing expense I decided to release a single level trial version to gauge interest before I committed any additional resources. Then with community feedback create additional downloadable environments for extra charges of $0.99.

Longer term create a fuller featured project for release on Ipad in the future, using the feedback generated from this.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable charging $4.99 for the single environment, nor ideally releasing it as a free download.

Its difficult to predict how most people feel about this, I wouldn’t like to think that the $0.99 price tag is devaluing the experience. If anyone here has downloaded it some feedback regarding the value would be appreciated. Will continue to scratch my head with regards to this point.

This is absolutely amazing! I agree that 0.99$ is too little though, given the feeling it gives me (Hopefully I don’t sound weird there). Did you create the terrain using the in-built terrain editor, or was it all done outside of Unity?

Very pleased that you liked it. It really is genuinely relaxing, I think the interactive element also adds an extra dimension in helping the mind focus away other worries. Would like to do a bit more research into that later on.

At this stage my primary goal isn’t to make any serious money. Getting feedback and awareness is most important for me. Its a genre I would like to pursue long term, so making some money from a more comprehensive version down the line would be great. By all means don’t let this take anything away from the current version, please try it out, I will be releasing other environments in the future and suggestions for those are welcome.
Do you really think people are less likely to buy it for $0.99 than $4.99? Its the same amount of clicks, only a small download of 110mb. I don’t want to charge too much for a relaxing product in the midst of a recession

With regards to the tech, its all native Unity engine. There are a number of art tricks learned through the years applied but nothing tech driven. If I get some spare time I will try and create some tutorials perhaps.

Hey watched the video and it looks so nice I bought a copy. Looking forward to exploring your world, thanks!

I think .99$ is Appstore standard. Desktop applications usually cost a little more- I haven’t seen many .99$ games on steam. Fact is, like said above, having to go through the hassle of logging into Paypal and processing will put people off big time.

This style definitely has a future though and the Appstore seems to be the place where you’re most likely to get the sales, why not try converting a toned down (Graphics wise) version for the Appstore. I’m sure Unity will give you some kind of deal

Okies just played it and completed the 100 point map. Was wonderful and your scenery placement and touch is just stunning. Very relaxing too. My only suggestion might be to tone the volume down on the yellow sound fx as it is a little harsher than the music and setting. Would be cool as well to put in a bonus color such as black which you don’t have to find but is kind of hard to as there is only one of them. Of course more maps would be +1. Beyond all that though I really enjoyed it… Best $1 I have spent in a long time. ^^b

I love it. All you need now are some orcs and a nice sword to cut them with.

Thanks for the purchase rutecht.

Very encouraging and fair feedback. Its easy to get close to these thing when developing them and miss simple things.

More motivation to explore with rewards as you suggest is a great idea. Its finding that balance to implement features that keep you interested but also don’t retract from the overall ambience and relaxation elements. Its a tricky balance to maintain without the experience spilling over to a competitive nature.

I have a few key ideas that I was unable to implement in time, however along with suggestions and feedback such as yours, it should be able to refine the experience for future releases. Perhaps I could even implement some suggestions in additional environments.

After trying it out would you consider buying a fuller featured product for $4.99 with additions such as Multiple environments, Audio selections etc in the future?
