I’m one of the developers at Aniode (we’re a 2 man team). We’ve been working on the game for almost a year now and finally have an awesome trailer to show off!
We’ve also just launched our Steam Greenlight campaign, check it out here: Steam Community :: Error
NZA is all about having loads of fun playing CO-OP with your buddies. That’s why we’ve made it as easy as possible for new players to be able to pick up a controller and play.
The Story
Humans have succumbed to a Zombie plague. Desperate to prevent their extinction, animals have been forced to take what weapons remain and fight the undead. Great bears and enraged elephants wield everything from swords to freeze-rays in a chaotic crusade to ensure their survival. Play as an animal as you battle with friends against the apocalypse, whilst taking the time to protect penguins and rescue cute kitties.
I’ll be posting further developments here now it’s officially announced and would love to hear any feedback!
This definitely looks awesome! a new kick to the zombie genre i just miss some blood splatter when the zombies get shot but besides that it looks clean and polished gj!
Cheers Bob, there is actually a little bit of blood splatter in there already. We are planning on upping that and adding an option to turn it off so it can be more kid friendly (as kids love playing it!).
Ah yea ofcourse, i see, the gore would probably be too much and yea i could definitely see the kid in myself loving this game, playing as a bad ass gorilla or something
We have been busy adding in a new game mode involving kittens!
So the idea of this game mode is you have to pick up kittens that are running around the level and take them to the safety of a crate. All whilst fighting off zombies! Team work will be essential as you wont be able to shoot whilst holding a kitten!
We may have also added the option to throw the kitten, because, well, throwing kittens is fun!
So what do you think would be a good name for this game mode? At the moment we are going with “Save the kittens” but would love to hear your feedback.
Maybe throwing the kittens can be used in place of shooting. Throw the kitten on the zombie and it explodes in a whorl wind of claws and teeth!!
The game looks real fun - but the cinematic trailer is well below the quality level displayed in the game. Suggest not using the trailer or just replacing it with actual gameplay footage montage.
I’m planning on making the kittens work a bit like a wrecking ball when thrown, so they’ll knock over the zombies. Don’t think we’ll explode them, have snails and bunnies for that
I’m surprised you didn’t like like the trailer, I thought it looked awesome! (but then I’m the coder, and have the worst eye for these things in the world…) I’m guessing it’s because it just uses the in-game assets? Could you give some more specific feedback regarding the trailer? We did try switching to just a gameplay trailer for a while, but our yes/no % dropped so changed it back.
The comedic element is evident in the trailer - but two important edits could be made to improve the trailer a lot.
The cinamatography needs a lot work. Proper framing of the characters on screen and easing in and out of the camera keyframes will help.
The second thing is the animation quality - starting first with the zombie that pops his head up and makes an odd twitchy facial expression.
It appears most/all the animation was done with linear keys. This is alright for a first animation pass, but all animation is improved with editing the keys with bezier and quaternion curves.
Addressing those two points will improve the trailer and bring up to match quality level of the game play.
Thanks for the feedback! My amateur animation eyes dont pick up on those kinda things… Spoke with Rich (the animator) and he agreed with your points. We’re hoping when the games a bit closer to release we’ll have the time to give it a spruce up.
That’s the negative about being a tiny team, you have to prioritise, and gameplay comes first!
Understand 1000%, gameplay always come first.
Just looking out for the fellow dev - don’t want you to loose any interest based on the trailer presentation alone.
The gameplay looks solid and fun. Can’t wait to play it.
