I am new to unity and game development, i want to learn to make 2d games in unity. Probably a simple one first, like platformer? I don’t really know if that’s simple or not though, but i really want to make a jrpg game in the future though  . My problem is that i notice most of the tutorial about unity is about 3D games development. Do they have the same fundamentals as in 2D games development? If yes i think i’m gonna learn them since it’s better than nothing. Or do you guys have any better advice?
Thanks, I’m sorry if i make any mistake since it’s my first time here.
I think that 3D tutorials are still a good way to learn how Unity works in general. This is my favorite total noob intro to Unity 3D tutorial (it has 3 parts)…
I also have a couple tutorials in my signature and on my website that you might find handy. The best thing I can say to you is to just dive in and start experimenting and playing around with everything. Unity is great for both 2D and 3D and you will not regret it.
But honestly the best way to learn Unity is loving Unity, just like unitylover said, I spend hours daily in Unity, looking at articles, researching different ways to accomplish different problems. To me the best way is to have an idea for a simple game and use that idea to create your project.
True, sounds like something a cultist would say but it’s true. That’s how to started or me. Also I started with TornadoTwins but I think they might a bit outdated. Think you’ll need to better understand the engine as well. To build something, you got to understand your tools.
Good thing Unity has tutorials. Listen to unitylover and dilmer, they have good heads.
