Hey guys im not exactly sure where to put this question but anyway i need a texturing person who can texture my UV’s i know what i am asking is a little like : “oh here texure my UV’s” but i really need someone who can help teach me or even help me out by texturing some of my UV’s please understand i do not expect everyone to do everything for me but this is pretty challenging and i would simply like a bit of help maybe lol? But anyways please do consider either teaching me or etc. Thanks i appreciate it. - Gab
You didn’t mention what tool you prefer to use. I expect there are good tutorial videos for all of the tools; I know there are good ones for Blender. Search for basic UV unwrapping tutorials.
Step 1: unwrap your mesh to make a UV map. This explains what part of a texture image would be used for each polygon in your mesh.
Step 2: paint a texture bitmap for each area of the UV map. This can be done in an image editor, or sometimes in the modeling tool itself.
Thank you for your reply. I use Cinema4D for modelling and gimp for texturing stuff etc. I know UV unrapping in c4d(not the best), but i dont properly know texturing in gimp because im making a mech game the models i make have fairly complicated UV’s and hence they are harder to texture as well :|…So if someone could tell me/ teach me or even do it that would be wonderful thank you.
PS : For anyone who will do the texturing for me before you start let me mention : I might sell the game so make sure your ok with me doing that before hand thanks.
If you’re asking someone else to do the work, I suggest the Collaboration (non-paid) or the Job Offers (paid) areas. And nobody’s just going to start doing the job for you without a LOT more information being communicated, like the meshes you want unwrapped or texture details you want drawn in.
Hmm i understand but i am not exactly asking someone to do it for me. Even someone just helping me out with this stuff…Cuz most ppl use maya and stuff its a lot harder to find someone who uses C4D(Cinema4D) and knows how to texture UV’s of models made in C4D. I know that nobody’s gonna do it without info ofc they wont thats why if they tell me “they want to join” then i can give them all the info they need in a PM and ofc not here lol…And as for the mesh i am trying to texture :
its not completely finished still some work left on the legs but thats about it!I don’t want to promise anything but I might give it a try for personal learning purposes. Where can I download the C4D file? (You can write me a PM with a download link).
For texturing right?
I’ve never used uv mapping in cinema 4d before but I have baked textures before. You could apply materials in the same way that you normally go about doing this in c4d and once you are happy with the materials you have applied, select the object and go into the objects menu just at the top of the screenshot. Just a few up from the bottom of the pulldown menu is the option to bake object. Set the appropriate things you want to bake and it will go to work for you.
Hope that helps.
Never tried the bake texture feature but you might have luck there. Although, I think this is for sending a certain material to a texture.
I dont understand lol (forgive my stupidity im no c4d pro(texturer etc).
You say it’s hard to make the texture because the UVs are so complicated.
Well, your first step is to un-complicate them. That’s what UV-unwrapping is all about. Anyone can just click a button and let it auto-unwrap. The hard part is unwrapping it so that a texture artist can do their thing afterwards.
I don’t use C4D, but I’d recommend finding more tutorials about UV unwrapping for it.
Yes i agree with you but, all of the tutorials out there are with ultra simple poly’s/UV’s so unwrapping it is a piece of cake…But with the models i work with its hard at-least for me . But thanks for the tip i will try it :).
Complicated things are just many simple things put together. Learn the different techniques for different shapes, and you’ll eventually have the whole thing unwrapped.
And if you’re really still having a problem, it’s probably way too high-poly to be useful anyhow. In that case, your first step is to make a low-poly version and bake the normal map, then UV-unwrap the simple one and go from there.
Ok i will try thanks for the help :). If anyone out there still has some good help please tell me thanks.
Ok, I did some unwrapping (see PM):
It’s neither great nor finished but hopefully gives you some idea how to proceed.
Basically it’s what crawford said. Break the model into simple shapes and map those (Polygon selection tag is useful to store a specific set of polygons and allows to easily hide all other polygons with a single click).
Box unwrapping works good to project simple shapes onto a UV, however the layout is pretty messy (missile launcher):
I then manually arranged the polygons for a cleaner layout with less seams:
-For those weird cone like shapes I used cylindrical projection (interactive mapping) to get a basic mapping and then relax UV.
-I split the leg in several groups and did either box unwrapping (world space) or flat projection (average normal space) where I wanted a simple projection (e.g. Foot)
-Resorting the projected polygons was the most work but point snapping helped a lot here.
UV-Mapping in C4D is certainly possible, however probably more cumbersome than necessary.
Thanks man this helped A LOT! I appreciate it :).
Thanks Bro, for this great knowledge
