Need help with W8-BEN being missing from appstore?

Hi, couple years ago I was required to fill out W8-BEN to avoid 30% tax witholding rate for an individual. Recently, though, I created a new developer account for my business and inputted bank details etc…

But the tax forms to send to apple are no longer there? Does this mean I no longer need to fill out W8-BEN?

I received this email but I need more confirmation that they won’t withold 30% us tax:

Does this mean being based in the UK, that I will not be taxed by the US? and I don’t need an EIN or W8?

that depends on the contract your country has with the USA.

for me from switzerland it indeed meant no taxes and a number filled with 0 to be entered but UK ↔ USA have many special agreements

I had to fill no numbers in… just agree to it thats all… did you not need to send any forms to apple?

Nope, only the digital one, but I have a personal one not a business account. with business the whole thing gets 2 hells more complex

Thats why I’m suspicious, my business account was not complex. I merely needed to agree to their terms and fax them proof of the business.

I didn’t need to fill in tax forms which was what I found suspicious.

i wasnt required to sent anything apple, i just click a couple of buttons and that was it, mine is an individual account

Got info back from apple finance department today, the answer is that they do not withold tax in any shape or form, you deal with it your end, which is different to how it was a couple of years ago when I was last active on the store :slight_smile:

They also deal with VAT (at least in europe).
