What is it now, 300,000+ apps in the Apple App Store? The Android market is catching up. So there ought to be some ideas in the Apple market that could migrate to the Android store. You could go that route.

I was interested in purchasing a public transportation app for a city I was going to visit. There wasn’t one. I am not interested in writing one for that city. On the other hand, if you could convince a regional public transportation authority to hire you to make one for them, then you’d be paid while you were making the app. There is something to be said about having a contract to produce an app as opposed to betting on selling and breaking into the top tiers of the app market you wish ot target.
