Need some guidance on starting

My nephew and I have been thinking of making a game for a while and we decided that I’ll take over the code as I have more experience on the programming front. He wants to work on the art direction.

Being completely new to game development in general, we could use some assistance in limiting his code workload and have him focus on the art and graphics. At the same time for those who have worked in teams, my nephew doesn’t live with me, what resource do you use to allow each other to work “independently”? Thanks!

First of all, start small . Working on games that you can complete in a day or so is much better when you just starting then trying to make RPG, FPS mega game .

Google walker boys Unity , these are a set of great tutorials which can help you get started, the last game they show you how to make is Mario 64 !! .

And their free !
