Need some help with directional light

Hi, I am using planes to build up my level in Blender. The problem I have is that with planes one side is not rendered in the engine, so the directional light is ignoring thos faces (in this case lets say it’s the roof of my level) and shines inside my level. What would be the best way to resolve that? is there some setting that i can u se in unity so that light takes those faces in to account or do I need to do something in my mesh editor (Blender) andset the other side as renderable?

You could replace your planes with a two-sided prefab that contains two plains back to back beneath a parent game object. That’s a bit heavy game-object wise, as it will triple your game object count. You could attach a mesh merging script that would collapse the objects down at runtime into a single double-sided plane.

Another way is to use a double-sided shader (google that up).

Another way is to make a custom piece of geometry (in this case a plane) with visible geometry facing both ways. You could do this in Blender3D.

You could also use an Asset Store program like Prototype to make the geometry you want as a single game object.

thnx

Click on the mesh in the scene.

Find “casts shadows” dropdown menu in meshrenderer component.

Select “two sided” option.
