Neewbie question. How to get a animated mesh in from 3ds?

Dont know if i am stupid, but have struggled 2 days to get in a simple mesh (a cylinder), animated over 100 frames with a bendmodifier, into unity from 3ds.

I get the mesh in, but no animation.

In unity i get it as a blue Prefab-cube, including the mesh and a avatar.

In the inspector the mesh is fine, under rig, it says generic,
but under animations it says “No animation data avaible in this model.”

Have checked bake animation in the fbx-exporter.

thx

Unity does not support that kind of animation, it supports skinned meshes animated via bones. There is an asset on the Asset Store that will do all the Max style modifier animations for you, ie bend, twist, taper, FFD, noise and 50 or so other ones so you could try that.
