.Net Upgraded :)

Sounds great, but it raises one question.
Is this Windows only? :hushed:
It says ā€˜.Net’ after all and not ā€˜mono’.
I really hope that’s not the case.

Be extremely careful about taking slides out of context.

Also, ā€œ.NET Upgradedā€ is not what that slide says.

What’s the full context of this slide? Does this mean that we’ll have feature compliance with a more recent version of .NET? Because that alone would make me just as happy as a Mono update.

My bad. I just saw this on twitter since Unity retweeted this post

I didn’t go to that talk so I’m not sure exactly - someone should ask the person who posted the photo.

I will note that if Unity 5.0 included an update to C# 5 / .NET 4.5 across the board, I’m pretty sure that would have been in the keynote.

so what does the slide mean?

The slide is taken out of context; it is my slide

This slide came from the section of ā€œIssues that IL2CPP will help us solveā€. The upgrade has not happened yet, and it will not happen until IL2CPP is mature and used on all required platforms.

I would be happier if they managed to make Net 3.5 work correctly on all platforms. Better to know what you can truly use, than to use a new version of a language with the incognita of what will work on a given platform and what not :stuck_out_tongue:

It looks like this is from the ā€œIL2CPP: The next generation of scripting in Unityā€ session? Is that correct?

I’ll make a note to watch the video when it’s posted.

Sweet!

 Still in alpha but as a self-user I’m very happy with it
