I have a 6 y.o. laptop with not a total shit but partially shit parts.
I’ve been trying to build the game for a Pewdiepie Minecraft Let’s Play and a Fainted explantion video about his channel getting deleted.
I guess I’ll be sending them to friends for them to build it.

Building a game is demanding on the CPU, RAM, and storage drive. The most important component is the CPU but you can still upgrade the RAM and storage drive on most laptops. Upgrading your RAM to the highest the laptop can go and adding an SSD can make it possible to build games that otherwise wouldn’t build.

That said past a few years a laptop is generally not worth upgrading in my experience unless you have no alternative.
