new 3DS questions

Hello everyone!

After hearing about Unity and Nintendo working on a solution for releasing Unity games on the new Nintendo 3DS, I have some questions about developing for the new 3DS:

  1. What about the performance? Is it really that bad? I have read about it several times, but I haven’t found actual “numbers” that compare the 3DS hardware to other platforms. Would I be able to port a title that is running smoothly on iPhone 5s / iPad mini 2 to the new 3DS? Or would it compare more to a device like the iPhone 4S?

  2. Will Unity developers be able to use 3D? If so, will it have a significant impact on performance?

  3. Are there any new 3DS hardware limitations like maximum texture size or a maximum amount of rendered polygons per frame?

  4. Is there a maximum size for 3DS games on the eshop?

  5. Is Unity going to include the new 3DS in cross platform input?

  6. Is there going to be a dev kit? If so, is there already some sort of estimated price for that?
