I am very new to Unity and getting very frustrated in trying to work with some of the tutorials. The tutorial link tells me to open up Unity Hub, Select Learn and scroll down to the required tutorial which in this case is 2D Game Kit. Then it says to click on it and then click the download button…and there is no download button, just a button that says view tutorials which just takes me back to where I started in the first place. The first 4 tutorials all have a download button for each one but the other 11 do not.
So after trying a few things I found on the internet which did not work I gave up that way and ended up opening the 2d game kit directly from the asset store. When I created a new file it opened up with an extra window that said package kit (I think that is what it was called) and I wasn’t sure what to do with that and couldn’t work it out so i closed it off as the information seemed to be located in my new file in Unity. I decided to try and follow the tutorial from the website and just see how it went. It didn’t go very far as the first thing I was asked to do was click Kit Tools in the top menu and then choose Create New Scene. Slight problem there…There is no Kit Tools in my top menu and I couldn’t find anywhere to create a new scene. I went back to the Assets Store and checked for the unity version required and it stated 2017.3.0 or higher. I have versions 2019.4.23f1, 2020.3.2f1 and 2021.1.1f1 installed I figured I should be covered with any of those versions.
That is another thing I don’t understand, how to run a different version. I tried to run the oldest one directly from file, forgoing the hub and it still brings up the hub and when I try create a new project it says it is creating it in the latest version I have installed so I have no idea how to run another version to see if that helps with my tutorial dilemma.
If anyone could help me out here I would really appreciate it. I knew that learning Unity would be a source of frustration at times but I didn’t think so much of it would come from just trying to get the tutorials to work.
