New: Decay of Worlds (Old Misfortune) - Story driven tactical Defense Game

Misfortune
3D low Poly Tower Defense
Introduction
This is my first real game and I’ve always used it to learn and improve my skills. I started with assets, but at some point I wanted more of my own in my game. So I learned Blender and created the models and textures all by myself.

Story
The story takes the player through a series of battles. As a starting point, the player knows that magic was once everywhere in the world. The races of elves, dwarves and orcs lived in harmony with each other. Various circumstances led to the collapse of magic and from then on it could only be used in crystals. As a result, the animals transformed and new, unknown enemies appeared. The player solves the riddle behind the collapse of magic and is drawn into a mysterious world.

Gameplay
The gameplay is divided into two phases. The player can set up outposts in two areas and the level of the outposts determines how many units the player can place in the area. After the start, the Enemy Spawn phase begins. The player’s units can be killed, but spawn again after each wave.

As soon as a wave has been defended, a text-based adventure begins in which some of the characters must find the source of the attackers and eliminate them. The player is offered up to three possible answers. Depending on the player’s decision, destroying the enemy camp takes 5-X rounds. If the enemy camp is not destroyed after 10 waves, the attackers are overrun and the game is lost.

Graphics
All graphics were created by myself. I am still creating the models of the players and enemy units. Until then, these are placeholders.

I have already revised the graphics several times. I am now satisfied with the results.

Feedback
I would be very pleased to receive feedback. The game can also be played as an internal test via the Google Play console. If you would like to try this out, please send me a PM.

Thank you very much

Dwarf Healer previous and Dwarf Healer new.

Not a masterpiece, but I’m quite satisfied for a mobile game. The animations will be next.

Dwarf mage before and after.

The mage draws his energy from the flying crystal during the animation and then throws a magic ball with his left hand. The colour of the crystal changes depending on the magic element selected

I am very Interested in this google play console version of your game

Cool that’s great to hear  I can register up to 100 users as internal testers on google play. All I need is your Google Play e-mail address.

no offence but I’m not too keen on giving someone who I don’t my e-mail.
also, I don’t have a google account.
still love your games concept though

It’s a shame, but I can understand it. You can also try out the link this way.

Or you can just quickly create a new gmail address

Thanks for your interest. It’s really not easy to get attention with so much good competition.

sorry it took so long for me to come back I had some things to do.
I think because it took too long the link expired so maybe if you resend it I can test your game:smile:

No problem

I’m afraid the link hasn’t expired, because it’s always the same. Unfortunately, it only works if I enter your gmail address in the list of internal testers.

Just to ease your worries a little. This is what it looks like in the Play Console.

I made A Gmail account yesterday but now I’m having problems with it. thay said thay might get back to me In two business days key word might.

Bro if you dont have gmail you will get troubles, do one! is easy, just go to your browser account (if any, change account or create one, if is empty add or create one) if you on computers or if you on mobile go to settings > accounts > create new one. Set the address (e.g., starsilver22@gmail.com), and the account password (dont do a very hard one or you will forget your own password, but dont do so easy or if a hacker or something like get to pick up your account is rip for you)

What is happening with the one you created?

Hey guys,
I’ve made some progress since my last message. I’m posting some new screenshots of the UI and my characters. I’m also working on my first cutscene in the dwarven throne room.

As always, I am very happy about your feedback

My hero is confronted by a band of Rakans. These people have been changed by the magic crystals. The animals of the forest have become smarter, but also more vicious.

The group of heroes in the dwarf throne room. Work in progress. I know. King, guards, light etc. are missing

In the meantime I’m in open testing at Google. If you want to test the game you can use this link.
Handy → https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Misfortune_Corp.Misfortune
Web → https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.Misfortune_Corp.Misfortune

The game is not playable on the web, but you can register via the website.

You may be shown a prize. Don’t worry, you are in the test area, so it won’t cost you any money!

Thank you for reading and hopefully trying it out

Hey guys,

I’ve been working on my throne room and am currently trying my hand at Unity’s timeline. Just when you think you’ve finally learned everything you need for your project, the next one comes around the corner

The throne room is now almost finished. The king and the guards are standing. The gate is still new and therefore has no textures yet. Nevertheless, I’m already very happy with the result

Today with a video of my cutscene in the throne room. The music and the fine tuning are still missing. What do you think? Is story important to you in a mobile game?

Hello fellow Game Developer Rene!

I’m in awe! I absolutely loved your game—especially the art style and atmosphere. Maybe it’s because I have a deep appreciation for high fantasy, like The Hobbit! I think some ambient sounds, like owls and windy nights, would enhance the immersion even more.

Your art style feels like a unique blend of World of Warcraft and RuneScape. Is anyone collaborating with you on this project?

I have two questions for you:

  1. Have you considered publishing your game on PC for testing and development? You could upload a prototype on Itch.io or CrazyGames—it would make it easier for people to follow your progress and even open doors for collaboration!
  2. If I may ask, what’s your long-term vision for this game?

I’m currently developing a casual multiplayer game called Dots Armies. It’s interesting how we’re both nurturing our projects side by side. However, I sometimes hesitate about continuing. I love dueling games—whether it’s chess or PvP battles in World of Warcraft—and I’m trying to merge those elements into something simple yet engaging. yet the task is big!

Apologies for the long message—I got carried away out of excitement! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hey Khaledonian

thank you for your words and also your comment on Youtube! I share your enthusiasm for high fantasy. It’s also really hard for me in Misfortune not to focus too much on the story. There are so many cutscenes in my roadmap and of course I don’t want to bore the player. It’s a fine line, especially with mobile games.

Thanks for pointing out the ambient sounds. That would fit really well. Maybe a few bats too. I still need to work on the sounds. I don’t like the footsteps that much yet either.

I’m actually working on the project on my own. In the beginning, I bought a lot from the Asset Store, but at some point I realised that I had to change too many things. That’s why I now do everything myself. Only the VFX aren’t mine yet. But that will change in the future

To your two questions.

Yes, I definitely want to publish on the PC as well. Steam is definitely planned. But uploading a prototype to Itch.io or CrazyGames is a very good hint!

I’ve already finished my rough story for the game. I’m currently working on the detailed planning. So mainly the number of cutscenes and playable missions. Between the missions there will be the possibility to upgrade the heroes. In the missions you can only level up the units. There will be a total of four playable heroes. Which hero will be played in which mission is fixed. If you have any questions, please let me know

I often have this feeling of wondering whether I should continue. It helps when you exchange ideas with others and get feedback  So thank you again! With everything I still have planned, I already know that it will take at least another two years. That can be frustrating at times.

Can I have a look at more of your game somewhere? Did you draw the map yourself? I really like the drawing already.

Hey guys,

You can currently find me on Kickstarter with my project. Here is the link: http://kck.st/42XRtF1

I would be very happy if you share my project!

Thank you very much!

Here is my current work Cover picture

And this is my next cut scene. After Udem and Gevell have received the mission from the Dwarf King to defend the Lemedem mine, they travel underground through the dwarves’ network of tunnels. On their journey, they come across a bridge that has supposedly been destroyed by falling stalactites. Udem uses this opportunity to introduce Tabok and Iredhel to the mission.

Hello folks,

from today you can test Misfortune on your PC! Just click here and download it from Itch.io. Thanks to @Khaledonian for the good advice

I would also like to introduce you to my two heroes Iredhel and Gevell.

Iredhel

Iredhel with drawn bow

Iredhel is one of the surviving elf children. She grew up with the dwarves and identifies with the rough society of her new family. Due to her special lineage, she often spends time in the royal quarter and meets Gevell, Udem and Tabok there at a young age. In addition to her talent with the bow, she can also use healing magic.

Gevell

Gevell with his favorite staff

One of the survivors of the Fadrin tribe.
After the tragedy of magic, the Fadrin tribe fled towards the main continent. The altered creatures there give them a hard time. Gevell discovers his ability to use the magic crystals for the first time. But too late. While the majority of his tribe were killed, the magic only helped him to escape. He almost lost his father during the escape. Together with his father and a handful of survivors, he arrived weakened at the dwarves. The king of the dwarves showed mercy and took the group in. Over the next few days, however, Gevell’s father succumbed to his wounds. The loss hit the young Gevell hard and the kind-hearted dwarf king took Gevell in as his ward in the following years. He was trained in magic, combat and administration. After reaching manhood, he was assigned to the champion Udem to gain practical experience in the field. He was a capable man and soon gained the respect of the dwarves. Udem in particular quickly took him to his heart.

Thanks for Reading

Good evening, dear Dev colleagues,

Today I would like to show you my progress in the cutscene “Road to Lemedem”.

I’m also working on a new gameplay trailer to show off the different aspects of the game.
