As part of StackExchange 2.0, there is a proposal for a new Game Development site, which is a - “Proposed Q&A site for professional and independent game developers who would like to discuss the various aspects of video game development and design.”
For those who may not know - UnityAnswers uses the StackExchange 1.0 codebase, which is a paid-for service (rates depending on size) from the creators of StackOverflow.com.
Recently, they changed their product to StackExchange 2.0, which will be free to use, and they are now accepting proposals for new Q&A sites (such as the above-mentioned GameDev site).
The site-creation process isn’t guaranteed - people have to support the proposal until it gets a critical mass. If you want to read more about the proposal process, see:
StackExchange Site Proposal FAQ
If you want to support the Game Dev site itself, go and follow it at:
If it works out, this could be another good development resource - and it would be in addition to UnityAnswers, I don’t see it as a competitor. The sites would have completely different focuses.
