New Game -Dimensional-

I recently finished my first game, Dimensional; a spaceshooter where time and dimension constantly vary as you try and survive an endless assault of alien foes. How long can you survive?

Using the unity webplayer.

Good luck, have fun, and let me know how you guys like it!

Like your game…looking good…would like to show the game over at our website

Wow…that game + boombox by lonely island = just…groundbreaking…

AWW COOL pretty laggy on my computer but SWEET just the same.

Very fast, fun and challenging. Nice one

That was fun, managed to get like 8 million score until i close it :stuck_out_tongue:

glad you guys like it!

Reminded me of Geometry Wars which is a great game. The enemy ships were difficult to see on my screen at times and also I don’t like being locked into 8 directional shooting when 360 degrees offers so much more control, could be your targeting a certain age though I don’t know.

I’m not 100% sure but I let your game load while I when to do something and I know I heard the title menu music for a second but when I came back it was dead silent, if so I’d consider looping the track ^^ nit picky but would make a difference I think.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll definitely look into the title screen as well as revamping the third dimension.

Geometry Wars with a twist? Nicely done.

Only things I would change is to make the enemies much easier to see (they’re practically invisible against the background skybox. Speaking of which, how did you make that awesome space skybox? Photoshop? 3D programs?), add in some sound effects for everything (they help!), and give us unlockable weapons that do different things.

skybox was made with spacescape, google it and you can make your own very easily

Unfortunately, i was crunched for time in order to submit this game for the contest on indiepubgames…which Unity now sponsors an award for!..but sound effects are the next thing on the list

This is a pretty cool idea and there are some pretty nice presentation bits. I especially like the soundtrack, but I’m biased by my obsession with trance.

Things I would change:

  • Enemies are very dark, against a fairly dark backdrop. In a shooter I think they should pop off the background much more clearly, especially if you’re going to mob the player with them. You need to be able to pick out targets accurately, at a glance.

  • Weapons felt underpowered to me: low rate of fire and very small projectiles. I’d shoot for bigger projectiles with a bit of a trail, brighten them up so they pop off the background, and a much faster rate of fire. Balance it by requiring enemies to take more than one hit, or limiting the weapon’s “clip” so there’s a reload or cooldown after every N shots.

  • The third dimension feels like it needs a crosshair. I also think it’d be stronger if targeting went into three dimensions as well, rather than just the visuals. Right now I see a 3D space but I’m still targeting across a flat 2D plane.

  • I didn’t play for very long, so maybe I missed this… but are there tactical advantages/disadvantages to the different dimensions? It’d be cool if there were times when 2D is best (perhaps when I’m being mobbed), times when 3D is best (perhaps when battling very tough enemies who have directional weak points), and times when 4D is best (or maybe this is just “billions-of-points bonus round”).

Keep this project going: I think you’ve got a really strong concept here!
