New game idea - witch software to use for modeling?

Hi

Im a beginner in Unity 3D and got beginners skills in Maya aswell, but still got some now/how of how game design works.

So i’ve started a game idea, witch taks place at a Mental Asylum, and my question is if i should build the whole asylum in Unity 3D or make it in Maya, I didn’t plan to texture and model the outside of the asylum, (beacuse it will only take place inside). That’s why i think Unity will be better, and use Maya for internel design and decorations.

But if you have a better idea please share it with me

You could try out AutoDesk 3ds Max. Its pricy but
if you’re a student they offer a nice package for you,
which contains 4 years use of the software package. Especially if ur still new to moddeling AutoDesk offers many tutorials on various of sites.

As I know 3ds max works pretty good with Unity Engine, so I would also suggest to use it.

And like Trevus said, you have many many tutorials to learn from, and many scripts that help you out getting results much faster… It’s a great 3d program!

The only negative part is the price, which is very high, but as also said there are several options to get it cheaper. I recommend you to download a test version (30day trial) and test it yourself, wether it’s worth buying or not
