New Granite for Unity release: ultra-high resolution textures in Unity

Hi guys,

I’m happy to announce that we have a new version of Granite for Unity:

With the plugin you use very large textures (up to 256Kx256K) directly in Unity. It also works as a texture optimization system to reduce memory usage or remove loading times.

Granite SDK, the underlying technology is used by Oculus, The Mill, The Farm 51, Allegorithmic and many more to get ultra sharp graphics by bumping up the texture resolution.

We’d love to hear what you think! You can try it out immediately on our website.

And for the people on this forum that provide feedback, we’d like to show our appreciation by giving you a $100 discount on the yearly subscription or the full seat! PM me for your discount code until October the 15th.

Hello.

I installed the demo and I was surprised at how easy the set up was.

Here are a few tips for other people trying out the sample scene. (and not wanting to read docs)

  1. You may have the set the texture import setting to 8k for the 3 chess piece texture (On my unity they imported at 128 kb)

  2. You may have to rebuild the tile set,

  3. If you do not want to read the documentation then there is basic tutorial video at

I have not purchased this asset yet because I am trying to figure out if it will work with RTP terrain shaders. Does anybody have step by step instructions on how to make Granite work together with RTP?

Thanks

Hi folks, sharing my impressions with Granite as a buying decision aid.
I’ve created 32kx16k color and normal maps and put the resulting material with the StandardShader on a Space Graphics Toolkit terrain as a stress test. For results and more detail (FPS and memory bearings and more detail on the setup) see the following video and its description.

Can confirm, it just works as advertised, is stable and as easy to use as it gets. I recommend to at least have a look. Next thing I’m after is trying to make it work with RTP, if I can make it work I’ll share the info here as well.

Did you have any luck with RTP?

Is there another forum for the product or is this it?
