New PC crashing in unity games

Just built a new PC and it crashes after 5 - 30 minutes when I play unity games like Rust or Slime Rancher but it runs just fine when playing ARK: Survival Evolved.

I don’t get a BSOD - instead the screen just freezes or goes black and then PC restarts. It does generate dump files though which I have attached here + output_log from Rust.

My specs:

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit - version 10.0.18362 Build 18362

Corsair CX750 - 750W PSU (Bronze certified) - Also tested with Corsair RM850 (Gold)
MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX - Used factory bios initially but later upgraded to most recent from MSI
AMD Ryzen 5 2600X - 6 cores @ 3.6 GHZ
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM - 2 x 8 GB
Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Gaming OC 8GB - Also tested with Radeon RX 580

Nothing is overclocked, everything is factory standard and I am using most recent drivers.

Unlikely to be Unity related. I’d test the memory booting into memtestplus, check for overheating issues, or other hardware related issues.

Thank you for the reply Joe.

Well that’s what I thought at first but I’ve been doing everything possible to test for hardware related issues. As you can see I even borrowed components from a known working PC. I also tried lots of different drivers etc.

Also checked RAM and monitored both temperatures and voltages. They all seem fine. (attached an image taken from aida64 extreme on G19 LCD while gaming)

I can play ARK for 5 hours straight without any problems whatsoever but when I play Rust or even Slime Rancher (which barely uses any CPU or GPU power) it crashes withing 10 minutes usually.

Not saying it isn’t a hardware issue but I just thought it was rather strange that I was only having issues in Rust and Slime Rancher but nothing when playing Portal 2, ARK and Banished.

All of the crash dumps say you got “VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE”, which means that your GPU (or the driver) hung, then Windows tried to reset the driver and that failed too. It’s very likely a hardware issue.

Sorry, I know its an older posting, but I just found because since the last update of my graphics drivers I got the exact same issue.
Only games made with unity are crashing constantly.

In addition to that I also got a new PC with almost the same specs, especially the rx5700xt, so I guess it’s just that
At least finding posts like this one confirms my theory…

I’m having the same issue after I upgraded my 5700 XT drivers from the July/August 2019 version to a 2020 version. I’m going to roll back to see if it stops crashing.

Edit: I downgraded my graphics driver to v2019.10.1. It stopped crashing and FPS tripled. There is something seriously wrong with the newer AMD drivers + Unity.
