New Prefab system shown at Unite 12

Hi guys,

I am really exited about the new prefabs system that you have shown during the keynote. I really like the way of tweaking a specific interface for a prefab, and of couse the nested prefabs.

Is the development of this feature over ? Will it be included into the 4.0 version or we will have to wait for a later update ? Any release date planned ?

Nice work anyway with 4.0, our compagny is going to purchase some Unity licenses soon and I can’t wait to port a game I have worked on (Arcane’s Tower defense for WP7 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jNaK2P1WL0) and create new awesome titles.

Hi, the feature is still in development and we have not announced a release date yet. It will not be in Unity 4.0.

yeah i was very happy to see these options. personally going to stay on 3.5 until these (nested prefabs and new GUI) come out as the other improvements such as DX11 aren’t really applicable to my project

Any status update on the release of the “new” prefab system? 2 years is a long time to wait for something so good and badly needed.
