Ive used unity before in the past. Build and running new projects took a matter of seconds, now, my $2500 gaming laptop is having serious issues when build & run… why is this? perhaps there are some settings i need to adjust?

Ive used unity before in the past. Build and running new projects took a matter of seconds, now, my $2500 gaming laptop is having serious issues when build & run… why is this? perhaps there are some settings i need to adjust?
It takes the longest the first time. Then after that the incremental build pipeline dramatically speeds it up.
So do a second build and see if that ends up being substantially faster.
Also consider making an exception for your project folder in Windows Defender, as that Defender wants to look at every single file that’s made/changed, and the build process makes and changes a lot of files.
