New RaceCraft Screens!

RaceCraft is back in business now that I have one last extension on my trial (and no worries about more delays, I’ve interviewed for a job and I think it went over pretty well). Since I opened Unity yesterday, here’s what I accomplished:

•Deleted a bunch of junk textures/materials
•Added waypoints to Desert1
•Added invisible walls/ceiling to Desert1

Only a matter of time now before Desert1 is finished as well as Lava1. I’m also planning on making a new model for the RaceCrafts (I’ve gotten much better at Blender), and letting you choose your color. Keep your eyes peeled!

•Made new RaceCraft model. A little more shapely in the back, and with new turbines that have no propellers

•Added color coded trail-renderers to the RaceCrafts to (more than) make up for the lack of moving parts.

Looking good! Do the ships have a “floating” effect, like they are hovering, and slightly move up and down when still?

Yeah, they do. Working on the lap/place counters in Desert1 now. :slight_smile:

Just a tip, your trails should fade out near the turbines, not become tiny. If anything they should be smaller at the ends.

really? I thought they looked cool getting bigger as they went back.

i think his point is they shouldn’t start from a small hard point - it doesn’t look realistic (the thrust from an engine doesn’t come out a pinhole ; )

doing either grow or shrink (with fade) towards the back is fine IMO - whatever works.

Oh, so instead of starting out really small, just start out kinda small? Gotcha!

New Screen:

•Finished Desert1
•Added new RaceCraft models to Lava1
•Started Forest1 (see above)

Moldorma, The desert level looks like you have the wrong texture on it as the brown stripe going accross the track should be hugging the edge. And with the forest screenshot, the grass tiling needs to be setup somewhere between 50 and 100 from memory…Make sure you check out the origional packages I sent as the shader settings were set up as best they couid be…Send me betas if you want me to check them/adjust them. Looks good man!

I know the desert one is wrong. If you do a top view, you can see the brown stripe outlining a whole different track. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll look into it. And I’ll do what you said for the forest. By the way:

•Added waypoints (and thus AI) to Forest1
•Did what DocJ and Yoggy said for the trailrenderers

EDIT: Hey Targos. I guess I deleted the original package that you sent me, and the file on Rapidshare is gone. You still have it I take it? Because I looked through my textures and none of them match up with the Desert1 track. And also, I looked back at your post for what to do to Forest1’s grass and realized that I have no idea what you’re talking about. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

•Made games end after five laps
•Enlarged Lava1 for easier racing (see above)
•Increased font size for smoother fonts at high resolutions (compare above to previous)

I’m releasing a demo for the Z3 expo (www.zfgc.com/z3), but it has to be exclusive, so I can’t show you until the 21st. Targos has it for testing right now though (his version doesn’t have the enlarged lava1 nor the high-res font). The demo will include all of the first four tracks.

i looked at z3, i couldn’t find any place to view entries. i know you wouldn’t be able to play them but i was curious what types of games people were submitting.

Yeah, entries won’t be revealed until the date of the contest, but I wouldn’t expect much. Mostly 2D Zelda Fangames made in Game Maker. I mean, the site is Zelda Fan Game Central. :stuck_out_tongue:

New RaceCraft design. Rotors are in and jet-streams are back out again, thanks to a design decision by Targos.

EDIT: This isn’t what the shading really looks like. Uploading made it all bad for some reason.
