Hello there, I have a pretty decent idea for a mobile game I think can take off and have loosely story boarded the features I would like it to eventually have.
My main question is about the design. Would it be possible to have a home base area a la old school Zelda/Pokemon/stardew/animal crossing and you could leave the area and head into a mario style left to right platformer level based area? Or should I just make it all zelda style?
Most of this I want to be relatively simple blocky minecraft esque assets as to make asset design as simple as possible, resource draw and install size small as possible and possible user base as large as possible.
Some background if interested:
I had went through a computer software development course just over a decade ago. I dropped out of college (dumbass) and haven’t programmed much of anything since. I had picked up basic c++ and visual basic and java relatively easily and was top of my class.
Fast forward. I am here and watching brackeys basic tutorials. Able to like, set a palette and get a few tiles down but thats about it. Going to watch his how to make a 2D platformer series and it should probably help quite a bit.
I work fulltime at a physical dead end job and after work am extremely tired and unable to do much of anything. Anybody looking to collaborate would be welcomed as well.
