I’ve heard lots about Unity over the last few years, finally decided to have a look. I’ve used Maya and other 3D applications in the past. I’ve also taken a basic CG course in college long ago (built a basic 3D library from scratch).
Congrats to the Unity devs and community. This is a wonderful program.
But what I’m looking for specifically is an engine or API that will let me put up 3D models(from autocad or other apps) which users can manipulate, via web browser and mobile app. The objects would be pre-defined, but I’d like to let users put different things like color or texture maps derived from uploadable content (eg., jpeg, png, etc…).
Can’t seem to find much documentation on “how to program with Unity” so to speak.
So I’m also just considering writing a web based an mobile device (iOS to start) openGL interface, but I’ve heard that Unity’s cross platform support would be an easier route.
Comments, input and advice appreciated.
Thanks,
DT
