New to Unity

I just installed it and for my class we have to make a 3d game. I never made anything in 3d and it seems really hard. Can someone give me good tips and tutorials that can make my job easier. I’m busy with other classes so I can devote all my time into messing with it at the moment.

@moe
The Unity Resources section and the Unity Tutorial section is a really good place to start in terms of learning the basics of the Unity engine.
Good luck with your classes!

Also the complete (and free) Unity Fundamentals videos are now available at 3DBuzz.com available to stream or download (www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/content.php?176). There’s an awful lot there but you can start with the intro section and pick and choose what you think you need (they’re handily split into very specific sections).

How long will it take before I get good with it? Is it possible to import sprite from other games since I don’t have experience in 3d modeling.

Also thanks everyone.

Do yourself a favour (as suggested by acs) and go to 3DBuzz.com

219 free videos of Unity Training and there will be more free content in the next few days, I went through the 219 videos and did me a lot of good!

Thanks. I never used C# or Javascript. Are their good tutorials on those. 3DBuzz seems to be only focusing on the design aspect not the programming.

They have separate XNA/C# tutorials, but their more advanced new 3rd party controller tutorials which has all the c# scripting, first drop of which will be released today sometime. The idea is to go from complete novice and improve your skillset all the way up to joining their MMO class. Even the Fundamentals videos have only been released in the last couple of weeks so all up to date for Unity 3.

you can try to play around with unity and get use to all the stuff it can do take the time to look at all the stuff unity can do and try it and see what it dos test stuff out and if you need help gest send me a message

Where is the site so I can get to it when it comes out?

I’m trying that now.

i thank he said there at 3DBuzz

Oh okay. Thanks. I’m watching them now. I will ask questions if I need further help.

There’s a list of tutorials and resources here. There are quite a few that focus on scripting. Those should get you started.
