New Trailer for Interstellar Marines

Just stumbled upon this video while browsing the web and felt that everyone here needed to see it.

If you don’t know, this game is being developed with Unity and has been long referenced as one of the best examples of the shear power of the game engine. I can’t wait for the finished product. From what I have played and seen, it looks like the Indie devs behind it have landed AAA quality.

Check out http://www.interstellarmarines.com/ for more information about the game.

They’ve referenced minecraft as a game that’s able to sell itself, but I doubt this game, even though it must have taken considerably more people and effort than minecraft, will be as successful :-[

*By successful I mean profitable amount of fans. But success can be other things, like being a quality game, perhaps this game’s going to be a little jewel of a FPS, even though it never gets to be as profitable or popular as other games, we’ll see!

They’ve certainly put a lot of love and effort into it. I’m impressed with how it looks, and their presentation of it, and it’s clear a lot of them involved genuinely care about making it than simply seeing dollar signs.

But it doesn’t really have anything other FPS games have, guess that’s not really their fault though, FPS games are pretty one trick pony when it comes to idea’s, and the more unique/quirky ones tend to suffer from their own attempts to shake things up.

Currently FPS games are a one trick pony, I think the genera will have to stagnate a little more before real innovation takes place. I know its possible to innovate the genera, but I can’t give out details as its part of my personal game project ;). Hopefully my project will eventually see the light of day.

But yes, Interstellar Marines does seem to be just another generic shooter with nothing to make it stand out. But it is rather pretty and it is made with Unity which is the main reason why I am following it. I am glad to see that there is a good AAA grade title made with Unity. The more of those there are, the more Unity will be recognized as a force in the industry. The more that happens, the more users there are and Unity can continue to expand and grow and make an even better engine.

Totally agree, more impressive titles will raise the bar considerably, attract plugin developers and other useful things, plus the competition is always a good thing.

Until Autodesk consider Unity a threat and swallows it up, lol.

Isn’t this the game that had landsharks?
