New Tutorial up at Unify Web Site!!

Well I’m pleased to say that http://unify.bluegillweb.com has been updated to inclued a new tutorial writen by Forest (yoggy) on how to take digital images and create them into tile-able textures!

Let us know if it needs any modifying and I look forward to more of you submiting tutorials. Also thanks to all who helped with the snippet wiki and those that will contribute to it in the future. Jeff

Great tutorial. The biggest tip I’ve found for creating tileable textures is to use the Filter/Other/Offset feature to wrap a single image. Then you touch it up and wrap it back. You wind up with the same result, but you don’t need to tile your image four times.

Try it. You’ll like it.

Actually you just reminded me i meant to post this a while ago. Here’s another trick i’ve been using, very handy especially if you take your own texture pics under less than perfect lighting:

Luminosity Correction

hi-pass method (free reg. required - worth it)

another method:

I have to second that first link–it’s a really cool tip. I’d never seen the second one before, but it’s also great.

Thanks!

Also, Painter (great app) has wraparound painting: you paint off one edge and it comes right back on the other. A very easy way to get seamless tiles.

I wanted to mention that there is another brand new tutorial on the site, but this time in the Wiki.

I still want to work on some formatting issues, and do a little more step by step action.

This will get you started though.
