New Unity Contest to Dominate

Go get 'em, community!

-Jon

Aw man, this couldn’t come at a worse time… dang me!

Well, anyone up for collaborating on an entry starting on Dec. 1st? Send me an email or forum PM.

Very Cool. I was thinking an annual event making widgets or whatever would be a good idea.

I’m definitely enterting this! Though I probably have no chance of winning as I we’ll be competing against professional, and I’m just an average teenager… Oh well, still up for the challenge

The 9-month Unity Indie version all contestants get, will it cost $250 to buy it permanently?

Great contest! Sounds like LOADS of fun

Btw, I’m up for working on this with someone, but I’m inexperienced, so I’m giving anyone who does, fair warning

I assume that teams can be only constituted by one person. In the application “form” it says “Developer Name” (singular), and I didn’t see any reference that it could be a team.

I would like to enter too, but it’ll be kind of hard… If it was only around January :(.

For me, the file size is the limitation.

That will keep games rather simple, won’t it…

I’ll second that. But this is a great competition and I hope it brings many new people to try out Unity. And a 9 month license to anyone who enters is a terrific offer. Good marketing OTEE

Are teams allowed? I still can’t quite figure that one out. Also it seems like all of us that have been using Unity for awhile have quite an unfair advantage (although you don’t have to use Unity). Either way, I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes out of this. The old Widget challenge produced a lot of great work from first time Unity users… and that one was only 2 weeks!

[Edit] Seems like teams are just fine:

How to enter:
Post the following information at this thread:

Your/team name
Entry name
Entry description
URL to download the game

Anyone have any ideas? I’m having a creative block

Uugh, I’m so tied down right now for a certain project until the middle of December. But if any programmer has a good idea for a really unique game I’m willing to jump on board to make some objects/environments… just PM me and maybe we can work it out.

Jeremy, Bill, Sam… I’m up for any ideas you guys can think up

Oh man this is such a great opportunity for us to do some collaboration. Ethan you just hit the perfect team on the head, btw. Not sure where Jeremy has been though. Get on AIM, we need to talk about this, we’re on a time limit here!

Bill

Does anyone know if you can enter more then one submission?

In the past multiple entries have been just fine, but I agree it is not stated clearly in the rules. You might want to ask directly on iDevGames. However, I want to say that you have much better chances if you pick your favorite out of your games soon and keep working on only one throughout the entire contest.

True, I was thinking along the lines of a collection of “mini-game”, but I may change my mind now…

That sounds cool too! If you think you can pull it off, certainly don’t let little me get in your way.

Cheers,
-Jon
