New Unity Forum is so bad!

Why it to be like this?

When I want to post or answer something, I always have to find
some extend button to increase size to write thing
it really difficult to read to understand or open some…
the good thing is when I add some Image it just write the URL

my monitor is too small? it similar to make for mobile
But I also use on mobile too, But not defference!

I can’t see all of them like before
and there has possible to swithing to legacy style?

sometimes I wirted and posting But it show me this
" Please fill required fields"

Where is required fields? , I can’t see!

Thanks!

There is a section on the forums for providing feedback about the forums:

Such way you can control scaling more natively than with browser native scaling:

Profile > Preferences > Interface > Text Size

For me at least new forum works much faster than other. Opening sub forums, threads, navigation.

I still got mix filling about few things. Or annoyed by gamifications. But generally I see an improvement, for what I use atm. If I would spend more on the forum, maybe I would find more frustrating aspects.

Are we talking performance or usability?

Performance wise.
Usability wise I am still of mix feelings.
Certain things are better. But somehow old forum was easier to navigate. Or see what is going on Maybe I am biased. But I got feeling that something make it harder on new discuss, to participate in discussions.

I am trying to get use to lack of pages.
Can click on the post numbers, so there is way to jump forward to latest threads. So is not as that bad.

well

all i will say is because of the new forum changes ive gotten tons of work done
so, i have mixed feelings now

I haven’t been around the new forum for long.

One thing that I don’t like is that the content uses 100% of the screen width. It might reduce scrolling, but reading posts on a big screen feels like sitting in the first row in cinema.

I find this easier to read:

Don’t bother, I’ve brought this up and they said they’re not going to change it because most people “want to use all their screen”

Funny you should mention this because it did used to be like how you prefer but a bunch of us (myself included) pushed to get the wide version. Trying to read long code and large chunks of text on the narrow view when you have a large monitor was awful. You can always resize your browser if you want it more narrow

Thanks you very much!
But when I reply the text field so small
I don’t know how to fix

You can resize it with the blue bar on the top.

Thank you very much, you guided me now!

That’s true. Have to write more to get the required 15 chars.

The text content to empty space ratio is insane. There is an excessive amount of empty space (paddings, margins, or whitespace) compared to the amount of actual text content on the page.

I now use a chrome extension and override the css to decrease the width. I can live with that.

I have no idea what’s going on in this forum. Latest Topics never stops having a blue dot next to it. I can’t mark posts as uninteresting/read. There are new posts which DON’T appear in Latest Topics and cause blue dots in other categories. And worst of all: My notifications never go away after I’ve read them. I have clue if I’ve read one or not, as it’s always a huge list. Shouldn’t they go away once I’ve read them? Why are some posts in Latest Topics marked in blue, as if I should care? Why is there endless scroll and no indication of how many pages of topics there are?

At least this travesty is readable on my 43" monitor, after a few size increases. Shame about all the wasted space though. Going widescreen is nice, but that extra width should actually have some content.

Presumambly becaused people post every few minutes so there’s always something new. And I guess unopnened topics stay new possibly.

It’s basically notification history and notifier two in one.

Unread ones look different, in bold I think? But it’s pretty noticable once you get a new one.

Nope, that’s how previous forum platform worked, this one’s different.

I think the platform is primarly geared towards special interest groups where people would be interested in a wide range of topics from multiple categories/tags. In Unity’s case if users are not generalists, the category is kinda pointless. But it does give quick access to new official announcements from all tags, however.

Sidebar on the right does indicate post count, it functions similarly:

This is horrible. Can’t keep track when it starts filling up. Contents I’ve read should stop notifying me, and history should be a separate tab. Or a whole page.

And it’s so horrible. Changing something that works to something that’s objectively awful? I’m not going to spend a lot of time on these forums then.

It makes no sense that it stays highlighted after I’ve read them. Don’t give me visual cues as if I need to read it WHEN I DON’T ACTUALLY NEED TO READ IT BECAUSE I’VE ALREADY DONE SO! This is awful design.

Yeah, and as usual, it’s horrible. Actually, no - it’s worse than horrible, because it doesn’t show a count. At least the posts show a count. Why doesn’t the topic overview?
