New Unity projects window?

Hey everyone!
I was thinking about the current layout of Unity’s projects window.
And if you ask me, this should be done differently in order to keep a better overview.
Especially when you have multiple projects, a different layout could be beneficial.
See the attached image to see what I am talking about.

Some notes, though:

  • The projects shouldn’t be arranged by last use. The user should be able to arrange them by himself, without, for example, the hassle of opening about 5 projects just to get the projects in a new order of priority.

  • When clicking “Path”, the path should be shown in a new UI layer from where you can close it again or open it directly in the Finder / Explorer.

  • Maybe the color of the light grey background behind each project should be customizable.

What do you think?

Greetings,
Shu

How often are you running this many projects at the same time? I only ever have two or three active projects, so the current set up is fine.

There is always room for improvement, but there is only so much time unity can spend improving things. I think there are higher value improvements around.

Still, if you think this will make a critical difference start an item on the feedback page.

Most of the time, I have about 7-12 projects in there (not including projects for testing purposes, though, that I might include if I could rearrange the order of the listed projects).
I do see your point and while a different projects window may be helpful for me, it may not be so for others.
Also, I did already post this on the feedback page a few month ago, but there weren’t any upvotes, so I decided to suggest this here and include an image of the idea. Maybe there are some people here reading this who could make use of this, too.
(just for reference, here is the feedback entry: http://feedback.unity3d.com/suggestions/change-order-and-color-of-projects-in-the-unity-launcher )

One important thing that I didn’t mention so far:
Scrolling through the projects is stepwise (using Mac OS 10.10). Is this a bug or is this intended?
Because a smooth transition would be a better option here. When scrolling, I will go down all the way in just an instant. (I am using a trackpad, maybe a mouse doesn’t cause this problem?)
