New Update?

Hello,

I hope the next update of Unity iPhone integrate that :

  • Lite Terrain Editor
  • Lightmap Creator in unity with light of scene
  • Open GLES 2 for SGX processor

But, I don’t have information… can you tell me the next feature please

see you soon

I predict in Unity iPhone 2.0:

OpenGL ES 2.0, inc. Post processing FX
Networking module
Base code upgrade to Unity 2.5 equivalent

and Bluetooth-Support!

That will never happen…when the base code is upgraded, Unity and Unity iPhone will be one and the same. (So, I predict Unity 3.0 for that.)

Agree on that predictment on the large scale merge.
Makes no sense merging against “yesterday” if you have to spend months on it anyway.

Though even with both ending in one app, keep in mind that iphone still will remain a distinct product you need to buy (and still an osx thing likely, though all but building could be offered on windows too and would likely add some nice extra value)

And Bluetooth support … well get iPhone Advanced (you will have to get it anyway if you want multiplayer in any way) and expose the few functions it offers. That should be pretty much straight forward from the sample.
Even if it happened, it would never support unity networking anyway as bluetooth is GameKit, not networking.

As for the original posting: I don’t see terrain happening before Unity iPhone 2.x (potentially even post 2.0)
It can only work acceptable on 3GS devices and shaders basically, because the old devices just lack too many things including multitexturing with more than 2 textures, vram and pixel shader based blending. I know that a few wrote their own dynamic terrain but the visual quality they offer would make editor support pointless if you basically draw in lowest quality mode with DX7 emulation on the desktop (thats what normal iphones support, at best)

I hope OpenGL ES 2 first…

Really important update …

Just to offer an official response we’ve not publicly mentioned anything about what’s coming in the future for Unity iPhone. We’re clearly not done yet and are mapping out our plans for both Unity and Unity iPhone, it’s just that as of today we’re not yet ready to say anything definitive so you’ll have to hang in there and wait. I’m sorry I don’t have anything more definitive but it’s the honest response I have to offer.

At least for me thats already more than nothing as it shows that we are at the bottom of the hill to climb not at its top to fall

Thank for reply, I wait and see
