New User and some question

Hi guys/Girls,

my self harshit vyas i am a part time indie developer so far i had create 6 games in android all 2d and 4 in ios again all 2d and now i am thinking to try my hand on 3d game so i choose unity it is just my third day on unity so obviously i dont have much knowledge about the unity and i am also little bit confuse about texture applying on the material

in order to learn i had downloaded one model from the internet and i had seen almost 8 textures in that with the size of 2048x2048 for each this is way to big so can i simply resize them to 256x256 or may be 512x512 and will that work or unity will take care of such big texture for me (yeah i want to go for ios/android so size does matter for me)

Thanks

Yes, you can simply resize them. As long as you save them over the top of the old ones Unity will recognise that you’ve updated them and apply them appropriately.

However, you can also select the textures in your Project hierarchy and set different maximum resolutions for each target platform, and Unity will handle it appropriately for each platform.
