New User JRE Problem

Hi,

I just installed Unity 3.5.1f2 today and am unable to build a Flash project as I get the following error: Compiling SWF Failed: Unable to launch Java.

But the JRE is installed on my machine. I even uninstalled everything Java from it and reinstalled the latest version and I’m still receiving this error. Java launches fine from my command line, and it’s enable in the Java Control Panel. I also have the Java icon in my system panel and http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp tells me that Java is working.

Any suggestions?

Or can someone tell me exactly what Unity is trying to execute?

I haven’t played with the Flash stuff myself, so apologies if I’m off the mark.

Two things to try: make sure you have the JRE directory defined in the system variables:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cqhelp/v7r0m0/topic/com.ibm.rational.clearquest.admin.doc/ldap/t_settingthejava_homeenvironmentvariable.htm

Second, try installing JDK.

If that fails, and nobody else here has any better ideas, definitely send a bug report to the Unity folks - flash is under development so there’s a higher likelihood of a quick response.

Which version of the JRE do you have installed? Try using the 32 bit version.
