I’ve been playing with Unity in my (very limited) spare time for the last month or so. I must say that I’m really enjoying it!
Anyway, I thought I’d post a few web-based WIP projects I’ve been toying with. Neither one is remotely a complete game, but that wasn’t really the point. I’m still trying to decide what I want my first real project to be…
An FPS with not much to do. You can shoot some boxes around an island of sorts. There are some enemy capsules with some rudimentary proximity sensing and tracking capabilities. They’ll follow you around, but they currently can’t harm you - nor you them. Oh, and I’m aware of the sometimes gravity-defying nature of the bots.
Typical FPS controls, though I added [Shift] for running…
Most of the graphics have been “borrowed” from any number of Unity tutorials - I hope nobody minds…
First up - good name As a fellow Jeff, I am a supporter of the Jeff.
Awesome start, man! Asteroids is great fun (as it always was) though once I re-spawned I found that I couldn’t shoot anymore (after I’d turned off godmode). No matter because I just refreshed the page, put godmode back on and went nuts blowing a lot of rocks up.
Shooting boxes on islands - always fun, especially when chased by disturbing pillar boxes! What do they want from me? Why won’t they leave me alone???
Thanks for taking a look. Once you’re within range, the enemies walk directly towards you, or, if they lose sight of you, they walk towards where they last saw you. Many times, by doing that, they’ll be able to spot you again. So, while it’s very simple, it’s adequate under many circumstances…
I like your space shooter, though very simple it’s solid. I myself am very new to unity and hope it to be a great learning experience as well as an opportunity for new things. Good luck on your future endeavors
