Me and my friend were messing around with some test-environments for our project, and came up with this. As a complete newbie (Haven’t even used this for a month), I’d like some feedback if possible.
Don’t mind the widgets.

Next time better if you take screens without icons ![]()
My comment is: nice but WAY TOO DARK!
The texture alignment in the 2nd screenshot is not very convincing and the outside scene is severly suffering from the monochrome textures (I sincerly hope they are only temporary). Apart from that, good start. I would never ever dare to map in unity, so kudos to you guys.
PS: You’d probably get more feedback if you included the images properly in your post (img-tags only work if the url has a valid extension like jpg/png(=>remove the t=… stuff)).
A bit too dark, and way too many Unity lights. Instead of using them, which are kinda cost heavy, I’d recommend baking lightmaps in whatever 3D program you’re using. This also lets you simulate global illumination and radiosity and makes it look overall better and is much faster.
Other than that good work, I like the 3rd one!
The game is planned to act the same way as Dead Space with the lighting where you can illuminate the darkness with your gun/flashlight. And this is a Nuclear Power Facility, one of the few inside levels in the game. Most of the others will take place outside such as The Urbs, a remnant of a suburban town on the outskirts of Manhattan, like a city-sized version of Fallout’s Megaton.
These are screens of The Urbs. Keep in mind, the level is under heavy construction.
And if anybody happens to know a mesh creating software a 14 year old can use, (I’ve tried Cinema4D), please tell me. It’s becoming annoying to use basic shapes in my projects.
Sketchup could be useful; white is front, blue-grey is back of faces, and textures are automatically mapped (you can adjust them yourself too, just not that much). Then export as collada, and import in blender; after that, it isn’t that easy though. Sketchup is incredibly easy, blender is not; at least not at first. Still, since unity can import blender files as-is, it shouldn’t be that much of a problem.
Google Sketchup should work fine for now, thanks! I always thought Sketchup was just some sort of architectural design program judging by the template descriptions. I’m new to this stuff so it’ll take some getting used to.
New models made from Google Sketchup.
I’m still new to this, so I have no idea how to make an “image that wraps around the model to add details”. Texture map? I’m still very new to this. So far:
Fountain: Mock-up complete.
Desecrated Wall: Complete
M1 Tank: Texture needs to be added.
