News Gameplay Bin Laden Raid Coverage

I’ve always thought Newsgames were great. Titles like Sully’s Flight and JFK: Reloaded gave a great deal of perspective to the events they covered. Nearly a month ago I began NewsGameplay.com with the expectation that I develop a format and begin covering some fluffy events in a user friendly manner. The Royal Wedding was the first event I looked into. Then the bin Laden news broke and I knew I had to go for it, especially because the 3D animations on the major networks were so underwhelming.

We made great use of the Bootcamp “engine” and belted this out in a 24 hour marathon session Friday night. We had 3 team members. Also, it should be noted that this is being live updated as new information about the story or usabilty comes in.

Anyone who wants to know more about Newsgames should check out Ian Bogost’s book of the same name or newsgaming.com (home of the original “coiner” of the term Gonzalo Frasca).

Feedback: I like the Idea.
Improvement: You might want to add an intro, that talks abit about the backstory(timeline) and the events that led to this incident.
Question: I did not understand why I had to shoot down the blackhawk??

They had an emergency landing and most likely hit the wall on the way in. It was a new proprietary stealth blackhawk so they destroyed it to cover up the technology.

good title.
I like the concept and I had already thought about doing something like that, about the World News and mainly conflicts.
You should sell it for the iPhone (many people would buy this game, Americans mostly)!

Good luck with your project.
