NEWS!! Games on sell at iTunes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is awesome news!!! Will/Can Unity ever support this?

Only for the iPod, I believe, but it’s still a cool development.

Do you have a link?

iPods will now support games. Joe, just get to the Apple site and too the iPod section. They’re also featured on iTunes store now!!!

I want to know … when will Unity be able to write to the iPod … woot!

Sorry, just Apple main page shows them and then visit the iTunes store via iTunes 7 (now out as well).

Hmmm…

But what do you want with unity on it? If i got this right ( http://www.apple.com/ipod/features.html ) than this is a PacMan, PuzzleBobble, Tetris,… thing. No 3D…

By the way a cool handheld for homebrew and emulated stuff is the gpx2 ( http://www.gp2x.com/ ). But for sure not compareable if you look at the marketshare, more for personal fun.

Okay the older ones used one of these…

And there in the features…

High-quality graphics acceleration for 3D games

Whatever that means… :O)

Anyone else?

Some examples… http://www.broadcom.com/products/software/mobmm_3Dgameexamples.php

I want to make them games.

The iPod sucks as a game platform but this is still awesome.

I’m hoping that the Games store will be expanded to include regular download games… but I think that may be wishful thinking.

Ron and I will be all over this idea if we can sell mini-games with engaging play made in Unity for the iPod in the iTMS store. All over it. (I keep saying, if we had $0.10 for each of our 265,000 downloads we’d be happy campers … and in a new line of work as well).

Thats the best one I’ve got. The quicktime feed of yesterday’s event is pretty informative though. The games are toward the beginning of the event too.

In the current state this seems to me more like a Apple+Partners provide some games instead of a freely accessible marketplatfrom. Does anyone know if the games can also be played on a normal Mac then? I suspect not…

Considering that iPods don’t run OS X, nor do they use a PPC or x86 CPU, definitely not.

This is calling for a standalone iPod Emulator for Win/Mac. And you could use the graphical Interface as a remote control software for your docked iPod to play songs etc… ahem… just speaking out loud some weired thoughts…

iTunes?

That’s what i was thinking of. But it seems that Apple doesn’t provide something like this yet. It somehow would fit into their “enjoy your content on each device” strategy much more than just beeing able to pay the game on the iPOD.

Hmm maybe it would be better to have somekind of a more abstract game environment solution which scales itself to the needed platform. Hmmm a bigger job…nothing for Apple right now i guess.
