Nexus 7 (2012) 16gb stock rom 4.4.2
Same code is working fine on Galaxy S III with cyanogenmod 11 rom.
Edit 1: I tried on a nexus 10 and it’s working fine. Maybe the nexus 7 is broken.
That particular version of the Nexus 7 has an INSANE bug in the storage controller. It simply does not operate properly if the device has < 3G of free storage. I try and keep mine ~35-40% empty to make sure it actually works.
The bug is quite serious and to the best of my knowledge there is no absolute fix for it. I’ve had all kinds of strange issues like what you’re mentioning and managed to track them all back to crazy I/O latency issues making the entire system ultra unstable.
