Hi there,
Does anyone know if features for HD Rumble on the Nintendo Switch Joy Cons have been implemented into Unity? I love this new feature and would love to start using it if there are resources for it.
Thanks

Just about any and every detail regarding developing for a game console is behind a non-disclosure agreement. You need to be registered with the appropriate console manufacturer in order to even know anything and it cannot be discussed outside of officially approved locations.
Sorry but even if we know the answer we can’t say it here.
Subnautica (made in Unity) has HD Rumble on switch, so it is possible, but likely only with a switch dev-kit.
I just started working with a dev-kit and as you seem to have a bit more experience with this, may I divulge into the possibilities of a dev-kit (essentially a bunch of yes-and-no questions not threading into detail at all) and if not, would you have an insight as to why?
It seemed pretty inconvenient to me that researching the dev-kit I couldn’t even find much of what it allowed me to do - develop on switch sure but how’s the editor experience, that kinda thing.
You have read the license agreement, right? Once you sign a non-disclosure agreement you are heavily restricted with what you are allowed to discuss outside of the official developer forum. You can’t discuss anything that isn’t publicly available information authorized for distribution by Nintendo. Which is almost everything publicly known.
Last year a few prominent YouTubers released videos showing teardowns of various developer kits and discussed the chips that they were able to read the labels of. That information wasn’t made publicly available by the console manufacturer so if we re-shared it ourselves we would break our own license agreements.
Based off of the above it’s clear that we should be able to share some information if we know that it is authorized but it’s very difficult to determine what was authorized so it’s a case of “better safe than sorry” with the “sorry” in this instance being revoked licenses (and likely never getting them again) and being sued into oblivion.
I had skimmed it but since this morning I’ve read it more thoroughly and I’m happy I did, it seems very serious indeed. The millions of license agreements have conditioned me poorly for NDA’s it seems. Thanks for your input also, better safe than sorry it shall be.
