[Nintendo Switch] Bridge Builder Racer has been released! Build, drive and optimise.

Hey everyone,

I am very pleased to announce my solo indie game project Bridge Builder Racer has been released for the Nintendo Switch. It has been a fun learning experience to publish it on the Nintendo Switch. The project has took me about 2 years to complete, mostly working on the project after work.

I am very open for feedback!

Bridge Builder Racer is the ultimate test for your engineering and driving skills. Build your own bridge to race your car from start to finish. Reach higher star ratings by spending as little as possible on your bridge. Create slopes and jumps to race your car and earn the top rating across the levels.

The game has 2 phases:

You start with the build phase, where you create your bridge. Remember, to earn the top stars, spend as little as possible by building plenty of slopes in your bridge to jump from one platform to another.

Then:

Take control of the car to race over your own created bridge. Go as fast as you can to achieve bigger jumps!

Nice job!

Yeah it’s cool!

Cheers!

Thank you!

Wow! It’s great that you released it on Nintendo Switch.

How did you do it? Did you get a publisher or did you pitch it yourself?

One day I would like to publish my game on Switch too, and I would like to know if it is technically hard.
Did you write a dev blog or something like that?

Super nice job!

I have fully developed, and published the game myself. I would personally say it’s not that different from any other device on Unity. Some parts (API’s) are difficult, however, the support is great from Nintendo.

I have applied to become a Nintendo Developer for the Switch myself, after publishing the game for Steam. This gains trust and proves you can make a game to them. Would highly recommend trying if you have a nice concept as well!

Unfortunately I have not written a dev blog because in most cases, I am not allowed to share screenshots of Unity due to NDA with Nintendo. I was actually developing the game for mobile and making dev vlogs. But when Nintendo accepted me I stopped working on the mobile version (
