No "Assets" folder in Solution in MonoDevelop. Real "Beginner's Problem" please help.

I create a new project and name it “State Machine”.
I create a folder in Assets named “Code”, and another named “Scripts”.
When I open a C# script that I create in the “Scripts” folder, the solution does not display the “Assets” folder.
What in heavens am I doing wrong?

Assets is present in Project window.

I am trying to reproduce this screen shot from my text book.

I am so sad that I am failing at the very first steps of Unity. Please have pity on me.
I have uninstalled Unity and reinstalled it. Cleaned my registry and started over two times. I don’t know what is wrong.

(sorry there is a weird attached image of nothing. I don’t know what I did there. Don’t click on it. There is nothing. I could not remove it from this post.)

I don’t see the assets folder in my MonoDevelop either. Most likely your book is using a slightly older version of Unity than you are. As long as you can find all of your files, I won’t worry about it.

Thank you for replying.
That is so helpful!
You are an angel. Thank you for doing good work!
