NO GO for iPhone 3.0

Okay guys, I downloaded the 3.0 OS. I didn’t wanna risk upgrading X-Code to the beta version in fear I wouldn’t be able to go back. So, I just bought my game, ROLLY, off the app store to see if it would work on 3.0

To my surprise, it booted fine and went through the menu system a little quicker then it would on 2.0 (for reasons I do not know). However, these are just GUI elements. When I went to actually play the game, it loaded fine however some things didn’t work right. Gravity is inverted (so the ball goes up instead of down) and the camera is all messed up. Other then that, all the assets loaded fine and the game still played. However, it does seem like the engine will have to be changed for 3.0

I’m glad to see that there isn’t a huge difference between 2.0 and 3.0 but the whole gravity thing, as of right now, is a show-stopper for me. Hopefully you guys are aware of this and can fix it (preferably before 3.0 hits actual users in June/July)

Just puttin that out there. Thanks for making such a great device open to us Unity users!

It’s a bit odd that Apple didn’t make sure that V3.0 was 100% compatible with 2.2.1 - it’s a bit of a hygiene factor when it comes to updating software, really!

It’s a beta, you shouldn’t expect full parity with pre-release software. They’re granting you access to pre-release software, if that’s a problem, don’t use it.

Edit: FYI the 3.0 SDK is already well under discussion too…
