No microphone input into games through audio interface

Hi! I’m not a dev but need to report a bug that’s plaguing a small set of people.

Across multiple recent games (examples like Phasmophobia, Labyrinthine, and BattleBit Remastered), I have the correct input selected but there is only static heard in game. I have an audio interface, MOTU M2 but I’m aware of people with other interfaces having the exact same problem, that I use for an XLR microphone input.

Below is a list of steps I have taken to attempt to resolve the issue:

Tests to confirm microphone function:
Tested microphone input using video calls on Chrome
Tested microphone input using Audacity
Tested microphone input using games I know the microphone functions in (Rainbow Six Siege)

My microphone was recorded with no issue

Troubleshooting steps taken:
Tested microphone in Unity games with Discord closed
Altered audio Levels multiple times in the Windows Sound menu
Disabled all other audio recording devices in Windows Sound menu
Disabled “allow programs to take exclusive control of this device” in the Windows Sound menu
Restarted my computer
Restarted my audio interface
Reinstalled the games with this issue
Reinstalled Steam
Used a different USB-C port for my audio interface
Reinstalled my audio drivers

None of these steps have resolved the issue and I’m uncertain of any further steps I can take as an end user to resolve this issue

I’m one of the people with the same issue (also MOTU M2 Audio Interface).

According to the BattleBit Remastered Devs the problem lies within the version of Unity used by the game, which lacks the capability to read multiple audio channels from a sourced input. Voice chat loops game audio through mic :: BattleBit Remastered General

A bugfix for their version of Unity would be greatly appreciated.
