Hey! When I started up Unity today, I lost the option to make a javascript file! Tried restarting and using different projects, no luck!

P.S. Sorry, I’m new to Unity!
Hey there, not sure if this is part of the phasing out of javascript (UnityScript).
I thought I remembered reading that at one point, the option to create new ones would be removed, but you could still write them & use them…I can’t be 100% certain that’s what I read, but pretty sure.
In any event, it is being phased out and will not be usable at all, at some point.
If you are just beginning, I’d highly recommend going with C#.
Even if UnityScript (javascript) were still an option, I’d say the same thing, as finding examples online, as well as help on the forums, and resources online in general – C# is far ahead
Alright, thank you for the help!
No problem.
and C# is great, don’t fret have fun.
Thanks to “Unity” for this, after almost 4 years of subscription, I canceled it at last.
I guess you’re free now, good bye.
(Good riddance /s)
Hey gyz same problem even i cant find the javascript option in unity
Good. At least you’re using a fairly new version of Unity.
I can see that you didn’t really read back at all:
but im following a tutorial that needs javasscript script
Then you’re following an insanely old and obsolete tutorial. JS hasn’t been supported at all since Unity 2017, and for years before that it wasn’t worth using/learning regardless. There is almost certainly a better, less obsolete tutorial to do the same thing in C#, and failing that, feel free to post any questions about what you’re trying to do in the forums (and/or ask for recommendations for C# tutorials for particular things).
