I can’t start Unity. I get this message : Opening file Temp/UnityLockfile failed because permission for the file was denied

without more informations its hard to say a lot but:
If you are running it from a network location, move it to a local place.
If you are running it in dropbox, move it out from dropbox.
If the temp folder is present, delete it (it should not be there)
If you are on a normal user account, ensure that you did not put it into the program files folder and similar folders (best use documents). The same applies to OSX too though there you would be hit by a confirmation dialog when trying to save something to an access limited place normally.
