Node scale bug between Modeler versions 9.0.0 and 9.5.2

I have a tree that was exported using SpeedTree Modeler 9.0.0. Loading the .spm file into Modeler 9.0.0 results in a tree that looks normal and exactly as it does in our game. When I load the same .spm file into Modeler 9.5.2, one of the leaf nodes is way too big. The strange thing is, under the node settings Leaves>Size, the size matches between the two modeler versions, despite the size being obviously visually different:

Apparently new users are only able to place one picture per post so I will have to just share a picture of the buggy version and you can imagine the normal looking one in 9.0.0 with the size also 8.36

When I set the size down to ~3, the size adjusts accordingly and the tree appears “fixed”, but the fact that the sizes would have to mismatch doesn’t make sense. I also have not verified that this would export and look normal in game.

I am still in the process of verifying how the bugged tree would look if it was reexported with the visual bug (but with the scale still matching the previous version) as well.

In the meantime I was hoping to find the cause of this bug and hopefully a fix.

TIA

Hey @B1gPictur3,

We have not encountered this happening with models going between 9.0.0 to 9.5.2. Would you be able to share your models with us at support@speedtree.com so we can take a look? Go to File->“Save as with assets”, save into a new folder, and zip the folder to create a package you can send to us. Please send over the normal and the funky one :slightly_smiling_face:

In the meantime, one possibility is you could see if there are any node edits on that generator.

Hello,

To confirm, this is the exact same model (there’s only one) which is simply showing up differently in the modeler. So I will only be sending you one model which you will notice looks different in the two modelers.

Thank you!
