Noob question...

Hi.

I’m a bad english writer, so i hope you can understand my primitive english…

I’ve buy a mac only to test this engine, it’s not a powerfull one, but is enought for now (Powerpc 1.2Ghz, 512Mb ram). My question is very simple…

I’m a windows user-developer, I’ve seen this engine, i’ve readed docs forums and I have to say i am surprised about his aesy-visual capabilities. It’s amazing…there isn’t nothing like that in windows for that price, only BV is focussed in the same concept (“make developers life much easier”).

My question is :

Once a game, demo,… whatever is done, (buying the commercial license of course) you can export the “executable” to windows and it will be playable just like any other windows application.

There’s any restriction about that?
using a specific feature of unity (a script command, shader effect,… i dont know) my game, demo,… will not run in windows anymore, any bug in that direction, anything???

I hope someone could answer that question, be nooby is not easy…

There is quite a difference between Unity Indie and Unity Pro.

Both publish to Mac,
both publish to Webplayer (Windows and Mac)

Only Unity Pro does Standalone Windows Applications.

While the windows webplayer is cool, it doesnt like loading big games, its designed for little projects. It might load a big game but will take a really long time.

Pro has Image efects(Blur, Glow Render to texture etc)

Unity Indie only lets you make $100,000 before the license needs to be upgraded to pro.

AC

Yeah…I knew that…

But buying Pro license and making an standalone windows app…there are limits?? known bugs or features you can’t use in orden to make that standalone App??

Said in other way…there are some standalone windows app made with unity that doesn’t work for some reason?

If you buy Pro, there is no built-in feature of Unity that will be likely to cause problems on Windows. OTEE has made sure games are completely compatible with both.

There are some system-level functions that might not be compatible, but I can’t imagine any reason you would want to use any of those functions in a game.

We’re doing global conflicts palestine, and everything is 1:1 there.

If you find something that doesn’t work on windows, its our bug and we fix it. Fast, too

ok… it’s clear for me now!
Tnx for your fast answers!
