Noob questions -- installing query, mostly

I’ve been looking around the forum and it seems to be the case that Unity and iPhone Unity are two separate programs that install side by side, yet when I run the installer for iPhone Unity it tells me that my Mac contains software that is newer and installing this software will replace it. I’ve never installed iPhone Unity before so I guess it can only be referring to Unity?! I got hold of Unity primarily for iPhone development but I still want the full desktop version intact – what will this installer overwrite exactly?

Also, while I’m typing, would it be remotely practical to write a 2D game using the GUI for rendering? And is Unity Remote mandatory or optional?

You can disregard the Install Warning as Unity and Unity iPhone are installed in separate folders… but before installing Unity iPhone you should move the Island Demo out of /Users/Shared/Unity if you want to keep it since Unity iPhone will overwrite everything in that folder (sending it to the Trash basically).

2D games… check out the Sprite Manager thread which is usually bubbling up around the top of this Section.

Unity Remote is optional.

Excellent – thanks man.
