Normal map not appearing in editor

Hi everyone here’s my query

I’ve imported a character with all the necessary maps and attatched these to the corresponding materials in unity. I’ve chosen bumped diffuse as my shader and generated a normal map within unity with extreme settings just to see if it works.

Spec diffuse work fine and seems great on every shader I try however whenever I load a normal into a shader I never see any changes in the editor or in-game
im wondering what im doing wrong.

I’ve also added a picture to show how exaggerated the bump is and how the character’s surface appears totally smooth?

Be very grateful if anyone can shed some light on this.

Thanks

Mel

Maybe your graphics/quality settings are set too low?

I have no idea whether that would affect normal maps or not, but couldn’t hurt to check.

Yeh that
sounds like a good suggestion but tried that
if it updates to whatever quality that you choose straight away then nothing changed.

Do you have to somehow save the settings once you’ve changed say the editor’s q to beautiful?
If it’s just a case of changing it to beautiful then it immediately changing the editor settings then not much changed at all?

do you have a pixel light affecting the surfac?

Because normal maps depend on pixel lights (its a per pixel effect)

You know what I bet that’s it.
Thanks allot dreamora, just me being stupid.
