It received a new post today, but I did not receive an alert for it. I’m reporting this in case it indicates a wider issue.

at least that can happen if you had missed some earlier notification,
even if you are still subscribed to it:

Interesting. So, presumably I didn’t click on one of the alerts from that thread once, and that prevents me from receiving alerts for that thread going forward? I wonder if having visited the thread again on my own restores my “interest” in it… We’ll see. Thanks.
Usually, when you got at least one alert, that you missed on particular thread, as mgear mentioned, you may not not be notified later. But once you read the thread to last post, your interest should be reinstated.
Just make sure you got thread marked as watched.
A bit different situation is, when someone quotes, or like your post.
From my observation, these always shows in alerts.
